Tips For Selling Your House

Posted on: 17 July 2017

When your house is on the market, you want to help it along when it comes to selling it quickly so you don't have to remain in limbo for an extended period of time. There are different things you can do and extra little steps to take to get an offer faster. Here are a few good ones for you to think about:

Realize that scents can actually help

You may not realize this, but the way your home smells can either draw people to it or leave them even a bit offended by the way it smells. This is why you should avoid cooking foods known for not smelling very appealing when your real estate agent can call at anytime and want to bring by some buyers to look at the home. Instead, you should have tubes of pre-made cookie dough in your fridge and ready to go at a moment's notice. As soon as your real estate agent calls and lets you know they will be over, cut up some of the cookies and put them in the oven so the house smells like fresh baked cookies when they arrive.

Don't turn buyers away when they want to see the house

Try to keep your house picked up and ready to show at a moment's notice. However, things can come up and you may find your house n a bit of disarray at times. If your home is in this state and you happen to get a call that a buyer wants to see the house right away, don't put them off. Sometimes a buyer will be in a rush to get moving and if they can't see your house they may move on to the next and make an offer on it. In other words, you want to strike while the iron is hot. While it isn't the best situation to have them see your house in disarray, it's better than having them not see it at all.

Consider low offers

If someone makes you an offer for less than what you are asking, don't be offended. At least take a few moments to consider the offer with an open mind. If your house has been sitting for a while then you may want to seriously consider it, especially if you are currently living somewhere else and have been paying two mortgages. Or, you can give them a counter offer and try to meet more in the middle.
